Applied Undergraduate Research in Anthropology
At Howard Community College, Maryland.


In 2014, HCC students began a collaboration with the Smithsonian Environmental research Center's 'Citizen Scientist' program, in the excavation of an archaeological site dating to the mid 17th Century.

Anthropology students at HCC are researching the 147 lithics, stone axes and other artifacts that comprise Samuel Jenness Prescott & Herbert Prescott Hall Collection. A student curated exhibition of this collection was showcased in Fall 2015.

In conjunction with the HCC's Center for Service Learning, Anthropology students coordinated public open days in archaeology and led cultural tours of the historic landscape on land that is now part of the Robinson Nature Center in Columbia, MD.
